Marketing - Involvement in Your Community
© by Earl B. Hall
When Ted Turner pledged a billion
dollars to fund UN projects, not only did he perform a very good
deed for others less fortunate, but also created a tremendous
amount of goodwill with people around the world. Don't
think for a moment this gesture will go unrewarded. You
can safely bet that his businesses will stand to profit from this
generosity and good feeling for many years.
Since our world is getting smaller every day, it only makes sense
to use our new technology to make a difference in our global community.
For example, if you publish a newsletter or mailing list, take the
opportunity to assist organizations with announcing a special event.
It's a very expensive gesture that could reap huge rewards for many!
You can use these same principles to help on a smaller scale, too.
Getting involved in community events and charities not only makes
a difference in your neighborhood, it also lets the people around
you know that your business is there to help the community (global
or local). The real movers and shakers in your business
field are likely to be the first ones to notice.
Get involved as a sponsor of charity benefits, amateur sports teams,
and local festivals. Keep an eye peeled for ways to tie
in with newspapers, radio, and TV stations who are sponsoring community
events. Just think how much exposure your business name
will get when it shows up on their promotional materials!
